In this Macedonian adaptation of Natillas, we incorporate local flavors and ingredients to create a unique twist. Instead of using traditional Spanish spices like vanilla, we infuse the custard with Macedonian favorites such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Additionally, we top the dessert with ground walnuts, adding a delightful crunch and nutty flavor that complements the creamy custard perfectly. Preparation

1.In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the mixture starts to simmer.

2.In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, egg yolks, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

3.Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.

4.Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

5.Remove from heat and pour the custard into individual serving dishes. Let them cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
