-
2.Add the beef chunks to the pot and brown them on all sides.
-
3.Stir in the turmeric powder and ground cloves, coating the beef evenly.
-
4.Pour in the beef broth, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper.
-
5.Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef — For the most tender results, choose a cut of beef that is suitable for slow cooking, such as chuck or stewing beef.
- Turmeric powder — Be cautious when handling turmeric powder, as it can stain surfaces and clothing. Use gloves or wash your hands immediately after handling.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of heat, add a chopped chili pepper to the Sapie while it simmers.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and add it to the Sapie towards the end of cooking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated for a quick and delicious meal.
Serving advice
Serve the Sapie with Coconut Rice in deep bowls, allowing the flavors to meld together. Garnish with fresh cilantro for a pop of color and freshness.
Presentation advice
