Treat your ingredients with care...
- Fava beans — Soaking the dried fava beans overnight helps to reduce the cooking time and ensures they become tender. If fresh fava beans are available, blanch them in boiling water for a few minutes before using in the recipe.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier kick, leave the seeds in the jalapeño pepper or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Serve the soup with a squeeze of fresh lime juice for a tangy twist.
- If you prefer a smoother consistency, blend a portion of the soup using an immersion blender before serving.
- Customize the toppings by adding diced avocado, a dollop of sour cream, or a sprinkle of crumbled queso fresco.
- This soup tastes even better the next day, so consider making a larger batch for leftovers.
