1.In a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

2.Add the beef chunks to the pot and brown them on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

3.In the same pot, add the sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.

4.Return the beef to the pot and add the bay leaves, dried thyme, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to coat the beef with the spices.
