Preparation

    Clean and make diagonal cuts on both sides of the pomfret fish.

    In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt.

    Marinate the fish with the prepared mixture, ensuring it coats both sides and the cuts.

    Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavors to penetrate the fish.

    Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

    Grease the grill grates and place the marinated fish on it.

    Grill for about 8-10 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has a charred exterior.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra smoky flavor, you can add a small piece of charcoal to the marinade and heat it until it turns red-hot. Place the charcoal in a small bowl, make a well in the center of the marinade, and place the bowl with the charcoal in it. Drizzle some oil over the charcoal and cover the bowl for 5-10 minutes. Remove the charcoal before grilling the fish.
  • If you don't have a grill, you can also cook the marinated fish in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for approximately 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
