Ingredients
In this adaptation, we have replaced some of the original Filipino ingredients with Tianjin-specific ingredients to create an authentic Tianjin-style dish. The original Buñelos Uhang uses Filipino chili peppers, while the Tianjin-style Shrimp Fritters incorporate Tianjin chili peppers for a distinct spicy kick. Additionally, the cooking technique has been modified to deep-frying instead of pan-frying, resulting in a crispier texture. 1.In a large bowl, combine the fresh shrimp, minced ginger, minced garlic, chopped Tianjin chili peppers, salt, and white pepper. Mix well to ensure the shrimp is evenly coated with the spices.

2.Add the all-purpose flour and cornstarch to the shrimp mixture. Mix until the flour and cornstarch are fully incorporated and the mixture becomes slightly sticky.

3.Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat.

4.Take a small portion of the shrimp mixture and shape it into a small patty using your hands. Repeat with the remaining mixture.

5.Carefully place the shrimp patties into the hot oil, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Fry until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.

6.Remove the fritters from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.

7.Serve the Tianjin-style Shrimp Fritters hot with a tangy dipping sauce of your choice.

- Shrimp — Make sure to use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and texture. If fresh shrimp is not available, you can use frozen shrimp, but make sure to thaw and drain them properly before using.
