Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Ground pork and beef — Make sure to use lean ground meat to reduce the fat content in the dish.
  • Caraway seeds — If you can't find caraway seeds, you can substitute them with fennel seeds for a similar flavor.
  • Dumpling wrappers — If you prefer a healthier option, you can use whole wheat dumpling wrappers instead of regular ones.
  • Mashed potato — Ensure that the mashed potato is smooth and free of lumps to achieve a consistent texture in the filling.
  • Breadcrumbs — If you have stale bread, you can make your own breadcrumbs by toasting and grinding it.

Tips & Tricks

  • To add a Bavarian touch, serve the dumplings with a side of sauerkraut or sweet mustard.
  • For a spicier twist, add a pinch of Bavarian mustard or horseradish to the meat mixture.
  • If you prefer a vegetarian version, you can substitute the meat with a mixture of mushrooms and tofu.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces such as sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce, or a Bavarian beer-infused mustard sauce.
  • Make a large batch of Bavarian-style Dim Sum and freeze the uncooked dumplings for later use.
