Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Pork shoulder — For the best results, choose a well-marbled pork shoulder with some fat, as it will add flavor and tenderness to the Gyros.
  • Bavarian mustard — Look for a traditional Bavarian mustard with a medium heat level to enhance the Bavarian flavors in the dish.
  • Tzatziki sauce — If you prefer a thicker tzatziki sauce, strain the yogurt before making the sauce to remove excess liquid.

Tips & Tricks

  • To achieve a smoky flavor, you can grill the marinated pork on a charcoal grill instead of using a skillet.
  • If you can't find Bavarian-style bread rolls, you can use any crusty bread rolls or even pita bread as a substitute.
  • For added Bavarian flair, serve the Gyros with a side of sauerkraut or German potato salad.
  • If you prefer a spicier Gyros, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • Leftover Gyros can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a skillet or microwave.

Serving advice

Serve the Bavarian-style Gyros hot, straight from the grill or skillet. Accompany it with a side of crispy fries or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.

Presentation advice

For an appealing presentation, arrange the Gyros on a platter with the sliced red onion, tomato, and cucumber neatly placed on top. Drizzle some extra tzatziki sauce over the Gyros for an enticing finishing touch.
