Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Textured vegetable protein — Rehydrate the textured vegetable protein according to package instructions before using in the recipe.
  • Shiitake mushrooms — Ensure the mushrooms are finely chopped to ensure even distribution of flavor.
  • Dumpling wrappers — Keep the wrappers covered with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out while assembling the dumplings.

Tips & Tricks

  • To add a touch of heat, include a small amount of chili paste or sriracha in the filling mixture.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces such as soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, or a combination of soy sauce and rice vinegar.
  • If you prefer a crispy texture, you can pan-fry the dumplings instead of steaming them.
  • Make a large batch of vegetarian dim sum and freeze the uncooked dumplings for later use.
  • Serve the dumplings with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
