Treat your ingredients with care...
- Yuca (cassava) — Make sure to peel the yuca thoroughly, removing any tough outer skin. Also, be cautious when handling raw yuca, as it contains a natural toxin that can be harmful if consumed raw. Boiling the yuca eliminates this toxin, making it safe to eat.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of chili powder or crushed red pepper flakes to the ground beef mixture.
- If you prefer a crispier cheese crust, broil the casserole for a few minutes after baking until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Feel free to add additional layers to the casserole, such as sautéed bell peppers or corn, to add more flavor and texture.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
