Ingredients
In this adaptation of Flódni, we incorporate the flavors and ingredients commonly found in the British Virgin Islands cuisine. Instead of the traditional fillings of apple, poppy seed, and walnut, we use a combination of tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple, and coconut, along with locally sourced macadamia nuts. The spices are also adjusted to include Caribbean favorites like cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, adding a distinct island flair to the dish. We alse have the original recipe for Flódni, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Mango — Choose a ripe mango for the best flavor and texture. Peel and dice the mango carefully, discarding the pit.
- Pineapple — Fresh pineapple works best for this recipe. Remove the skin and core, then dice the pineapple into small pieces.
- Macadamia nuts — If you have trouble finding macadamia nuts, you can substitute them with other tropical nuts like cashews or almonds.
Tips & Tricks
- To enhance the tropical flavors, you can add a splash of rum to the fruit and nut mixture.
- Serve the Flódni with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of coconut ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
- If you prefer a sweeter dessert, you can drizzle a simple glaze made with powdered sugar and lemon juice over the cooled Flódni.
