3.To cook the Arab-style Gyoza, you have two options:
-
4.- Pan-Frying: Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the dumplings in a single layer and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Pour in 1/4 cup of water and cover the skillet with a lid. Steam the dumplings for an additional 5-6 minutes or until the filling is cooked through.
-
5.- Steaming: Place the dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam over high heat for 8-10 minutes or until the dumplings are fully cooked.
-
6.Serve the Arab-style Gyoza hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as tahini sauce or a yogurt-based sauce infused with Middle Eastern spices.
Treat your ingredients with care...
- Ground lamb — Choose lean ground lamb for a healthier option. If unavailable, you can substitute with ground beef or chicken.
- Fresh herbs — Ensure the parsley and mint are finely chopped to evenly distribute their flavors throughout the filling.
Tips & Tricks
- For a crispy texture, pan-fry the dumplings until golden brown before steaming.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces like a spicy harissa sauce or a tangy pomegranate molasses dip.
- If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of cayenne pepper or omit it entirely.
- Freeze any leftover uncooked dumplings on a baking sheet, then transfer them to a freezer bag for future use.
- Serve the Arab-style Gyoza as an appetizer or alongside a fresh salad for a complete meal.
Serving advice
