Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, spinach, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped onion, basil, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.
Take a gyoza wrapper and place a spoonful of the filling mixture in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half, creating a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges together to seal the gyoza.
  3. 3.
Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling mixture.
  4. 4.
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the gyoza in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
  5. 5.
Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet and cover with a lid. Allow the gyoza to steam for 5-6 minutes until the wrappers are translucent and the filling is cooked through.
  6. 6.
Remove the lid and continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes to crisp up the bottoms.
  7. 7.
Serve the Italian-style Gyoza hot with the zesty tomato-based sauce on the side.
