Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large bowl, combine the minced meat, onion, garlic, carrot, zucchini, soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.
Take a dumpling wrapper and place a spoonful of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half, pressing the edges together to seal the dumpling. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. 3.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the dumplings in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the dumplings until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. 4.
Remove the dumplings from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. 5.
Serve the Fusion Krapci hot as an appetizer or main course. They can be enjoyed on their own or with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Dumpling wrappers — Make sure to keep the wrappers covered with a damp cloth while working with them to prevent them from drying out.
  • Minced meat — Use lean minced meat for a healthier option, or a combination of beef and pork for a richer flavor.
  • Soy sauce — Opt for low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer to control the saltiness of the dish.
  • Ginger — Fresh ginger adds a vibrant flavor, but you can substitute with ground ginger if needed.
  • Sesame oil — Toasted sesame oil provides a more intense flavor, but regular sesame oil can be used as well.

Tips & Tricks

  • To achieve a crispier texture, you can double-fry the dumplings. After the initial frying, remove them from the oil and let them cool for a few minutes. Then, fry them again until they become extra crispy.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces such as sweet chili sauce, soy-ginger sauce, or a tangy tomato-based sauce to enhance the flavors of the Fusion Krapci.
  • If you prefer a vegetarian version, you can substitute the minced meat with crumbled tofu or cooked lentils for a protein-rich filling.
