Ingredients

The Taoist Kroket differs from the original Dutch Kroket in several ways. Firstly, the filling of the Taoist Kroket incorporates tofu and mushrooms, adding a Taoist twist to the traditional mashed potato filling. Additionally, the Taoist Kroket is coated in a light breadcrumb crust instead of the traditional flour, egg, and breadcrumb coating. These adaptations make the Taoist Kroket suitable for the Taoist diet, which emphasizes plant-based ingredients and simplicity. We alse have the original recipe for Kroket, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Tofu — Make sure to press the tofu to remove excess moisture before crumbling it. This will help achieve a firmer texture in the filling.
  • Mushrooms — Use any variety of mushrooms you prefer, such as cremini, button, or shiitake. Finely chop them to ensure they blend well with the other ingredients.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra burst of flavor, add a dash of tamari or liquid aminos to the filling mixture.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, sprinkle some chili flakes into the breadcrumb coating.
  • To make the Taoist Kroket gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed rice crackers instead.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices to customize the flavor profile of the Taoist Kroket.
  • Serve the Taoist Kroket with a side of fresh salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
