Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, eggs, sugar, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
  2. 2.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch (3mm).
  3. 3.
Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out circles of dough, approximately 3 inches (7.5cm) in diameter.
  4. 4.
In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon zest, and honey to make the filling.
  5. 5.
Place a small spoonful of the walnut filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges firmly to seal.
  6. 6.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop the krafi into the boiling water and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
  7. 7.
Remove the krafi from the water using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a serving dish.
  8. 8.
Drizzle the krafi with honey and serve warm.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Walnuts — Make sure to finely chop the walnuts for a smooth filling texture.
