Ingredients

The Balochi-Style Bagel differs from the original Montreal-style bagel in terms of flavor profile and cooking technique. While the original bagel is typically plain or topped with sesame seeds, the Balochi version incorporates traditional Balochi spices for a more aromatic and flavorful experience. Additionally, the original bagel is traditionally baked, whereas the Balochi-Style Bagel is boiled and then grilled, giving it a unique smoky char. Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and yeast.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  9. 9.
Brush the bagel rings with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Serve the Balochi-Style Bagel warm with your favorite spreads or fillings.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Sesame seeds — Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until golden brown. This will enhance their nutty flavor and aroma.

Tips & Tricks

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dough mixture.
  • Experiment with different toppings such as nigella seeds or dried herbs for added flavor.
  • If you don't have a grill, you can use a grill pan or even a regular non-stick pan to achieve a similar charred effect.
  • To make the bagels sweeter, increase the amount of honey in the dough mixture.
  • These bagels are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days and toast them before serving.
