Preparation

  1. 1.
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, yogurt, minced garlic, and chopped chili pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. 3.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown, stirring occasionally. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4.
In the same skillet, cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Place a slice of cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
  5. 5.
While the patties are cooking, spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Toast the bread slices, buttered side down, in a separate skillet until golden brown.
  6. 6.
To assemble the Central Asian Patty Melt, place a beef patty on a slice of toasted bread. Top it with a generous amount of caramelized onions and a few pickles. Cover with another slice of toasted bread.
  7. 7.
Repeat the process to make the remaining sandwiches.
  8. 8.
Serve the Central Asian Patty Melts hot and enjoy!

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Ground beef — Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option. If desired, you can also substitute ground beef with ground chicken or turkey.
  • Yogurt — Opt for plain yogurt without any added flavors or sweeteners.
  • Chili pepper — Adjust the amount of chili pepper according to your spice preference. You can also use milder chili varieties if you prefer a less spicy patty melt.
