Treat your ingredients with care...
- Macaroni — Cook the macaroni until al dente to ensure it retains a slight bite when baked.
- Ground beef — Use lean ground beef for a healthier option, or substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
- Canned diced tomatoes — Opt for high-quality canned tomatoes to enhance the flavor of the meat sauce.
- Cheese — Experiment with different types of cheese for the topping, such as Gruyere or Fontina, to add a unique twist to the dish.
- Olive oil — Use extra virgin olive oil for a rich and authentic flavor.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of chili flakes to the meat sauce.
- Allow the Timpana to rest for a few minutes after baking to ensure it holds its shape when sliced.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated the next day for an equally delicious meal.
- Serve the Timpana with a side of fresh salad to balance the richness of the dish.
- Customize the recipe by adding your favorite vegetables or herbs to the meat sauce.
Serving advice
Serve the Timpana hot, straight from the oven, as the flavors and textures are at their best. Accompany it with a side of mixed greens or a simple tomato salad for a refreshing contrast.
Presentation advice
To present the Timpana beautifully, use a spatula to carefully slice and transfer individual portions onto plates. Garnish with fresh basil leaves or a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese for an elegant touch.
