Treat your ingredients with care...
- Coconut milk — Shake the can of coconut milk well before using to ensure the creamy part is well mixed with the liquid.
- Dried fruits — Soak the dried fruits in warm water for 10 minutes before chopping to soften them slightly and make them easier to work with.
- Rum — Use a dark rum for a richer flavor, but feel free to adjust the amount according to your preference.
Tips & Tricks
- For a more pronounced tropical flavor, you can add a teaspoon of grated fresh ginger to the dough.
- If you prefer a sweeter Zelten, you can drizzle a glaze made of powdered sugar and lime juice over the top after baking.
- Feel free to experiment with different dried fruits and nuts to customize the filling to your liking.
- Serve the Zelten warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of coconut ice cream for an extra indulgence.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
