Preparation

  1. 1.
In a bowl, combine the Dutch soy sauce, Dutch apple cider vinegar, Dutch honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. 2.
Place the thinly sliced beef in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Ensure all the beef is coated evenly. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. 3.
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4.
In the same skillet, heat another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté for 5-6 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  5. 5.
Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  6. 6.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Beef — For the best results, choose a tender cut of beef like sirloin and slice it thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
  • Dutch soy sauce — If Dutch soy sauce is not available, you can substitute it with regular soy sauce.
  • Dutch apple cider vinegar — If you can't find Dutch apple cider vinegar, you can use regular apple cider vinegar as a substitute.
  • Dutch honey — Any local honey can be used as a substitute for Dutch honey.
  • Fresh parsley — Feel free to substitute fresh parsley with other herbs like cilantro or chives for a different flavor profile.

Tips & Tricks

  • For extra tenderness, you can marinate the beef overnight in the refrigerator.
  • If you prefer a spicier flavor, add a teaspoon of Dutch chili flakes to the marinade.
  • Serve the Bulgogi with steamed rice or Dutch-style fries for a complete meal.
  • Feel free to customize the vegetables according to your preference. Dutch mushrooms or zucchini can be great additions.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
