Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Cauliflower — Be careful not to overcook the cauliflower during steaming as it should retain its crunch. It is important to cut the cauliflower into evenly sized florets to ensure even cooking.
  • Japanese cheese — Use a mild and meltable Japanese cheese such as mozzarella or cheddar for the best results.
  • Dashi stock — If you cannot find dashi stock, you can substitute it with vegetable broth or chicken broth for a slightly different flavor profile.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra kick of flavor, add a teaspoon of grated ginger to the sauce.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables such as bell peppers or mushrooms for added variety.
  • Serve this dish as a main course with steamed rice or as a side dish to complement a Japanese-inspired meal.
  • Experiment with different types of Japanese cheese to find your favorite flavor combination.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of chili flakes or drizzle with sriracha sauce before serving.
