Preparation
-
1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, olive oil, water, and salt. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
-
2.Rinse the red lentils under cold water until the water runs clear. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add the lentils. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the lentils are tender. Drain any excess water and set aside.
-
3.In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until they turn golden brown.
-
4.Add the cooked lentils to the pan and mix well. Stir in the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
-
5.Divide the dough into small balls. Roll out each ball into a circle, about 6 inches in diameter.
-
6.Place a spoonful of the lentil filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, sealing it completely.
-
7.Gently roll out the stuffed dough into a flatbread, about 8 inches in diameter.
-
8.Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
-
9.Serve the Andorran Dal Puri hot with your favorite chutney or yogurt dip.
