Ingredients
In this Colombian adaptation of the Elk Burger, we substitute elk meat with venison, which is more readily available in Colombia. Additionally, we incorporate traditional Colombian spices and flavors, such as cumin and cilantro, to infuse the burger with a distinct Colombian taste. The burger is served on an arepa, a popular Colombian cornbread, instead of a traditional burger bun, adding a unique texture and flavor to the dish. We alse have the original recipe for Elk Burger, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Venison — Ensure that the ground venison is fresh and lean for the best flavor and texture.
- Arepas — If you can't find pre-made arepas, you can make your own by mixing cornmeal, water, and salt to form a dough. Shape the dough into patties and cook them on a griddle until golden brown on both sides.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the venison patty mixture.
- If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of cumin and paprika in the seasoning.
- Experiment with different toppings such as Colombian cheese, pickled onions, or a spicy salsa for added variety.
- If you can't find venison, you can substitute it with lean ground beef or turkey.
- To enhance the flavor of the arepas, brush them with a little oil before toasting.
