Ingredients
In this Yunnan-style adaptation, we incorporate Yunnan-specific ingredients and spices to enhance the flavors. The original Funšterc is traditionally made with pork, but we substitute it with Yunnan-style cured ham for a unique taste. Additionally, we add Yunnan chili peppers and Yunnan herbs to infuse the dish with the vibrant and aromatic flavors of Yunnan cuisine. Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

2.In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

3.Add the diced Yunnan-style cured ham and cook until lightly browned.

4.Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and Yunnan chili peppers. Sauté until the onions are translucent.

5.Add the diced red and green bell peppers, grated carrot, corn kernels, and peas. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6.Sprinkle the crushed Yunnan peppercorns, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper over the vegetable mixture. Stir well to combine.

7.Remove the pan from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

8.Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut them into squares or rectangles.

9.Spoon the cooled filling onto one half of each pastry square, leaving a border around the edges.

10.Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and press the edges together to seal.

11.Place the filled pastries on a baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden crust.

12.Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and crispy.

13.Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

- Yunnan-style cured ham — If you can't find Yunnan-style cured ham, you can substitute it with prosciutto or any other cured ham with a similar flavor profile.
