Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

2.In a large pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the minced beef and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

3.In the same pan, add the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.

4.Return the cooked beef to the pan and add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried thyme, dried oregano, bay leaf, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.

5.In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Add a pinch of nutmeg and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the sauce thickens.

6.Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Top with a layer of lasagne sheets, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a layer of bechamel sauce. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of bechamel sauce.

7.Sprinkle the grated Gouda cheese over the top of the lasagne.

8.Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
