Ingredients
In this Singaporean Chinese adaptation of Panettone, we incorporate Chinese five-spice powder, mandarin zest, red bean paste, and roasted chestnuts to infuse the traditional Italian sweet bread with aromatic and nutty flavors. Preparation

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and sugar. Mix well.

2.In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk and eggs.

3.Gradually pour the milk and egg mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring continuously.

4.Add the softened butter, mandarin zest, Chinese five-spice powder, and salt. Mix until the dough comes together.

5.Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

6.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

7.Punch down the dough and knead in the roasted chestnuts.

8.Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll out each portion into a rectangle.

9.Spread the red bean paste evenly over each rectangle of dough.

10.Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the shorter side, to form a log shape.

11.Place the dough logs into greased Panettone molds or round cake pans.

12.Cover the molds with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.

13.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

14.Bake the Panettone for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

15.Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before serving.
