Ingredients

In the original French recipe, the tart is typically made with a classic pâte sucrée crust and filled with mirabelles, sugar, and sometimes almond cream. However, in this Acehnese adaptation, we incorporate local Acehnese spices and flavors into the filling, giving it a unique twist. Additionally, we use Acehnese mirabelles, which have a slightly different flavor profile compared to their French counterparts. We alse have the original recipe for Tarte aux mirabelles, so you can check it out.

Preparation

  1. 1.
In a food processor, combine the flour, butter, granulated sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, Acehnese cinnamon, ground cardamom, and ground cloves. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. 2.
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently until it comes together. Shape it into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. 3.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  4. 4.
In a bowl, mix the Acehnese mirabelles, brown sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice until well combined.
  5. 5.
Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit a tart pan. Press the dough into the pan, trimming any excess.
  6. 6.
Pour the mirabelle mixture onto the crust, spreading it evenly.
  7. 7.
Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  8. 8.
Remove from the oven and let it cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
