While the original Italian Tiramisù is traditionally made with coffee and cocoa, this Arab-inspired adaptation incorporates saffron for a touch of exotic flavor. Preparation

1.In a mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until smooth.

2.In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.

3.In a small bowl, dissolve the saffron threads in 1 tablespoon of warm water. Add the saffron mixture to the egg yolk mixture and mix well.

4.In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

5.Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.

6.In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.

7.Dip each ladyfinger into a mixture of saffron-infused water and arrange them in a single layer in a rectangular dish.

8.Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

9.Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.

10.In a small bowl, combine the chopped pistachios and honey. Sprinkle this mixture over the top layer of mascarpone.

11.Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

12.Before serving, garnish with ground pistachios.
