Ingredients
In this adaptation, we infuse the traditional Filipino Turon with the tropical flavors of Asunción. While the original Turon typically features banana as the main ingredient, we substitute it with plantains, which are commonly used in Asunción's cuisine. Additionally, we enhance the filling by incorporating a tropical medley of pineapple, coconut, and guava, giving the dish a distinct flavor profile that reflects the culinary traditions of Asunción. We alse have the original recipe for Turon, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Plantains — Choose ripe plantains with yellow skin and some black spots. They should be firm but not overly ripe to maintain their shape during frying.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra touch of sweetness, you can drizzle honey or sprinkle powdered sugar over the fried Turon before serving.
- Serve the Turon with a scoop of coconut or vanilla ice cream for a delightful contrast of temperatures and flavors.
- If you prefer a healthier version, you can bake the Turon in the oven instead of frying. Brush the rolls with a little oil and bake at 200°C (400°F) until golden brown.
