Preparation

1.Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

2.Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

3.Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies. Sauté for another minute.

4.Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the masala.

5.In a small bowl, mix together the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Add this spice mixture to the pan and cook for a minute.

6.Add the whale meat pieces to the pan and coat them well with the masala.

7.Pour in enough water to cover the meat and bring the curry to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for about 45 minutes or until the whale meat is tender.
