Preparation

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
2.Gradually add the cold water, a little at a time, and mix until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
-
3.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
4.In a separate bowl, combine the sliced apples, Tasmanian honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
-
5.On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a rectangle approximately 12x16 inches.
-
6.Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
7.Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll the dough into a log, sealing the edges.
-
8.Transfer the kringle to the prepared baking sheet and brush the top with the beaten egg wash.
-
9.Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the kringle is golden brown and the apples are tender.
-
10.Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
