Preparation

1.In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, piri-piri spice, peri-peri spice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

2.In a separate bowl, combine the flour and eggs. Knead the mixture until a smooth dough forms. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

3.Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 2mm thick. Cut out small circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.

4.Place a small amount of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the circle in half and seal the edges by pressing them together with your fingers.

5.In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, diced celery, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.

6.Add the bay leaf, dried thyme, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir well to combine the flavors.

7.Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the broth simmer for about 15 minutes.

8.Carefully drop the filled dumplings into the simmering broth. Cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
