Preparation

1.Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.

3.In the same wok, add the sliced onion, Sichuan chili peppers, minced garlic, and crushed Sichuan peppercorns. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

4.Return the beef to the wok and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and hoisin sauce. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes.

5.Add the cornstarch mixture to the wok and cook until the sauce thickens.

6.Split the hoagie rolls and place a slice of provolone cheese on each roll.

7.Spoon the beef mixture onto the rolls and broil in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
