While the original Indian version uses spices like cumin and turmeric, we replace them with Congolese spices such as garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper, and coriander. 1.Rinse the lentils thoroughly and drain.

2.In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the lentils. Cook until tender, approximately 20-25 minutes.

4.Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

5.Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, cayenne pepper, and ground coriander. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
