Preparation
-
1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and sugar. Mix well.
-
2.Gradually add the warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
-
3.Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
-
4.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
5.In the meantime, prepare the filling. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan and sauté the minced pork until cooked through.

6.Add the bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, garlic, ginger, star anise, and five-spice powder to the pan. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
-
7.Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and green onions. Cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
-
8.Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal portions.
-
9.Take one portion of dough and flatten it into a circle. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center and gather the edges of the dough to seal it, forming a ball.
-
10.Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
-
11.Arrange the filled dough balls in a greased round baking dish, forming a lotus blossom shape.
-
12.Cover the dish with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
