Preparation

  1. 1.
In a bowl, combine the orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, minced garlic, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to make the marinade.
  2. 2.
Place the chicken pieces in a ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  3. 3.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later use.
  4. 4.
Add the chicken to the hot skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. 5.
In the meantime, whisk the cornstarch into the reserved marinade until well combined.
  6. 6.
Pour the marinade mixture into the skillet with the chicken. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  7. 7.
Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. 8.
Serve the Cuban-style General Tso's Chicken hot with steamed rice or plantains.
