The original Greek recipe has been modified by adding aromatic spices like cinnamon and cardamom, which are commonly used in North Karnataka cuisine. 1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2.In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt.

3.In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4.Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the plain yogurt. Mix until just combined.

6.Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts.

7.Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

8.Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
