Ingredients
In this Dutch adaptation of Moroccan Cigars, we replace the traditional phyllo dough with spring roll wrappers, which are more commonly used in Dutch cuisine. The filling remains true to the Moroccan flavors, with a blend of spices and vegetables. The cooking technique is also adjusted to deep-frying, which is a popular method in Dutch cuisine. We alse have the original recipe for Moroccan Cigars, so you can check it out.

1.Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent.
-
2.Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
-
3.Stir in the grated carrot, chopped bell pepper, ground cumin, paprika, ground cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
-

-
5.Take a spring roll wrapper and place it on a clean surface. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the filling onto the wrapper, spreading it in a line across the center.

-
7.Repeat the process with the remaining spring roll wrappers and filling.

8.Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 180°C (350°F).
-

-
10.Remove the spring rolls from the oil and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
-
11.Serve the Moroccan-inspired Spring Rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Treat your ingredients with care...
- Ground beef — Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option. You can also substitute it with ground chicken or turkey for a lighter alternative.
- Spring roll wrappers — Keep the wrappers covered with a damp cloth while working to prevent them from drying out.
