Ingredients
In this Omani adaptation of the German Schmierwurst, we incorporate traditional Omani spices and flavors to create a unique fusion dish. The original German sausage is typically made with pork, but we substitute it with beef to cater to the dietary preferences of Omani cuisine. Additionally, we infuse the sausage with a blend of Middle Eastern spices, such as cumin, coriander, and cardamom, to give it an authentic Omani twist. Treat your ingredients with care...
- Ground beef — Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option. Make sure the beef is fresh and of high quality to enhance the flavor of the sausage.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra burst of flavor, you can add a tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley or cilantro to the sausage mixture.
- If you prefer a spicier sausage, you can add a pinch of chili powder or cayenne pepper to the spice blend.
- Serve the sausage with traditional Omani flatbread, such as khubz, and a side of tangy Omani tomato chutney for a complete Omani culinary experience.
- If you don't have ground beef, you can substitute it with ground lamb or a combination of beef and lamb for a different flavor profile.
- Leftover sausage patties can be refrigerated and enjoyed the next day. They can be reheated in a skillet or grilled for a few minutes until heated through.
