Preparation

  1. 1.
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. 3.
Preheat a steamer over medium heat. Place the patties in the steamer and cover. Steam for about 10-12 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
  4. 4.
While the patties are steaming, prepare the special sauce by combining all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well until smooth.
  5. 5.
Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the steamer and place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty. Allow the cheese to melt slightly.
  6. 6.
Toast the hamburger buns until lightly golden.
  7. 7.
Spread a generous amount of the special sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a cheese-topped patty on top, followed by the top half of the bun.
  8. 8.
Serve the steamed cheeseburgers warm and enjoy!

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Ground beef — Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option. If desired, you can mix different types of ground meat, such as beef and pork, for added flavor.
  • Special Sauce — Adjust the sweetness and tanginess of the sauce by adding more or less sugar and vinegar according to your taste preference.
  • Hamburger buns — Opt for brioche buns for a richer flavor, or whole wheat buns for a healthier alternative.

Tips & Tricks

  • For added flavor, you can sauté onions and mushrooms to serve as toppings for your steamed cheeseburger.
  • Experiment with different types of cheese, such as cheddar or Swiss, to customize the flavor profile.
  • If you don't have a steamer, you can use a large pot with a steamer basket or a colander placed over boiling water.
