Preparation

1.Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until golden brown.

2.Add the diced turkey meat to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.

3.Stir in the cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper, and cook for another minute to toast the spices.

4.Add the rice to the pot and stir well to coat it with the spices and oil.

5.Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

6.Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

7.Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
