Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  2. 2.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  3. 3.
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  4. 4.
In a small bowl, mix the tomato sauce with the cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, cinnamon, and black pepper. Spread the spiced tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough.
  5. 5.
Sprinkle the shredded lamb, bell peppers, red onion, cherry tomatoes, and crumbled feta cheese over the sauce.
  6. 6.
Transfer the pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
  7. 7.
Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh cilantro. Slice and serve hot.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Lamb — Ensure the lamb is cooked thoroughly before shredding it for the pizza.
  • Feta cheese — Use a good quality feta cheese for the best flavor and texture.

Tips & Tricks

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of chili flakes to the tomato sauce.
  • Experiment with different toppings such as olives, mushrooms, or roasted garlic.
  • If you prefer a thicker crust, let the dough rise for an additional 30 minutes before rolling it out.
  • Serve the pizza with a side of yogurt cucumber sauce for a refreshing contrast.
  • Leftover Hazaragi-Style Pizza can be enjoyed cold or reheated in the oven for a few minutes.

Serving advice

Serve the Hazaragi-Style Pizza hot, straight from the oven. Cut it into slices and serve as a main course or as part of a larger meal. Pair it with a fresh salad or a side of yogurt cucumber sauce for a complete dining experience.

Presentation advice

To enhance the presentation, sprinkle some fresh cilantro leaves on top of the pizza before serving. The vibrant green color will add a pop of freshness and make the dish even more visually appealing.
