Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef tenderloin — For the best results, choose high-quality, thinly sliced beef tenderloin. If you can't find pre-sliced beef, freeze the beef for 30 minutes to make it easier to slice thinly.
- Mirin — If you don't have mirin, you can substitute it with a dry sherry or sweet marsala wine.
- Sesame oil — Use toasted sesame oil for a more intense flavor.
- Honey — To make the honey easier to measure and pour, lightly coat the measuring spoon with oil before adding the honey.
- Ginger — Freshly grated ginger provides the best flavor. Use a microplane grater for finely grated ginger.
Tips & Tricks
- For a more tender beef, you can marinate it overnight in the refrigerator.
- If you prefer a spicier Bulgogi, add a teaspoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the marinade.
- Garnish the dish with toasted sesame seeds for an extra touch of elegance.
- Serve the Haute Bulgogi with a side of pickled vegetables to add a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors.
- If you want to make it a complete meal, serve the Bulgogi over a bed of steamed jasmine rice or with a side of glass noodles.
Serving advice
Serve the Haute Bulgogi hot, straight from the skillet, for the best flavor and texture. Garnish with chopped spring onions and toasted sesame seeds for an elegant presentation.
Presentation advice
To elevate the presentation of the Haute Bulgogi, arrange the stir-fried beef and vegetables on a large platter. Garnish with microgreens and edible flowers for a pop of color. Serve with individual bowls of steamed rice for an elegant dining experience.
