Ingredients
In this Cypriot adaptation of the Carne Asada Burrito, we replace some of the traditional Mexican ingredients with Cypriot ones. Instead of using Mexican cheese, we incorporate halloumi cheese, a popular Cypriot cheese known for its unique texture and salty flavor. Additionally, we add a generous amount of tzatziki sauce, a traditional Cypriot yogurt-based sauce, to enhance the Mediterranean taste. These modifications infuse the dish with the distinct flavors of Cyprus while still maintaining the essence of a classic burrito. We alse have the original recipe for Carne Asada Burrito, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...
- Halloumi cheese — Grill the halloumi slices until they develop a golden brown crust while still maintaining their softness in the center.
- Tzatziki sauce — If you prefer a thicker tzatziki sauce, strain the yogurt before preparing the sauce to remove excess liquid.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra burst of flavor, squeeze some lemon juice over the grilled beef before assembling the burritos.
- If you can't find halloumi cheese, you can substitute it with feta cheese, although the texture and taste will be slightly different.
- Customize your burrito by adding sliced cucumbers, red onions, or olives for additional Mediterranean flavors.
- To make the burrito spicier, add a sprinkle of chili flakes or a drizzle of hot sauce.
- If you prefer a vegetarian version, replace the beef with grilled vegetables such as zucchini, bell peppers, and eggplant.
