Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Chili oil — Adjust the amount of chili oil according to your spice preference. Increase or decrease the quantity to suit your taste.
  • Sichuan peppercorns — Toast the peppercorns in a dry pan before crushing them to enhance their flavor.
  • Sesame seeds — Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a pan for a nuttier taste.
  • Green onions — Use both the green and white parts of the onions for added flavor.
  • Minced garlic — Freshly minced garlic works best for optimal flavor.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra spicy kick, sprinkle some additional crushed Sichuan peppercorns on top before baking.
  • Serve the focaccia warm with a side of Sichuan-style dipping sauce for an authentic experience.
  • Experiment with different toppings such as diced Sichuan pickles or shredded Sichuan-style braised pork for added flavor.
  • If you prefer a milder version, reduce the amount of chili oil and Sichuan peppercorns.
  • Leftover focaccia can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheated before serving.
