Ingredients
In the original African cuisine, Fufu is typically made with ingredients like cassava, plantains, or yams, and served with various stews or soups. However, in this Malvani adaptation, we infuse the fufu with coconut to add a tropical twist. Additionally, the accompanying curry is prepared using Malvani spices and coconut milk, giving it a distinct Malvani flavor profile. Treat your ingredients with care...
- Cassava flour — Ensure that the cassava flour is of good quality and free from any impurities. This will ensure a smooth and consistent texture for the fufu.
- Malvani masala — If you cannot find Malvani masala, you can substitute it with a blend of garam masala and dried coconut powder to achieve a similar flavor profile.
- Coconut milk — Use full-fat coconut milk for a rich and creamy curry. Shake the can well before opening to ensure the coconut cream is well mixed.
Tips & Tricks
- To enhance the flavor of the fufu, you can add a pinch of grated nutmeg or cinnamon to the dough mixture.
- Adjust the spiciness of the curry according to your preference by increasing or decreasing the amount of red chili powder.
- For a creamier curry, you can add a tablespoon of coconut cream towards the end of cooking.
Serving advice
