Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef shank — Slow cooking the beef shank will result in tender and flavorful meat. Make sure to remove any excess fat before shredding.
- Rice noodles — Follow the package instructions for cooking the rice noodles, as different brands may have different cooking times.
- Jalapeno pepper — Adjust the amount of jalapeno slices according to your desired level of spiciness. Remove the seeds for a milder flavor.
- Avocado — Choose ripe avocados for the best flavor and texture. Slice them just before serving to prevent browning.
- Lime wedges — Squeeze fresh lime juice over the soup just before eating to add a burst of tanginess.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of flavor, add a splash of hot sauce or a drizzle of chili oil to your Latin American Pho.
- Customize your toppings by adding sliced radishes, diced tomatoes, or pickled onions for additional Latin American flair.
- If you prefer a heartier soup, add cooked black beans or corn kernels to the broth.
- To save time, you can use pre-made beef broth instead of making it from scratch. Just make sure to choose a high-quality, flavorful broth.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop before serving.
