Treat your ingredients with care...
- Balinese spice blend (bumbu Bali) — If you can't find ready-made Balinese spice blend, you can make your own by combining equal parts of ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric, and shrimp paste.
- Tamarind paste — If tamarind paste is not available, you can substitute it with lime juice for a tangy flavor.
Tips & Tricks
- For a spicier sauce, add more red chilies or a dash of chili powder.
- If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of Balinese spice blend used in the marinade.
- Make sure to let the beef rest after grilling to allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meat.
- Serve the dish with steamed rice and a side of Balinese sambal for a complete Balinese meal experience.
- Adjust the spiciness of the peanut sauce according to your preference by adding more or less chili.
