Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Chinese-style noodles — Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, but make sure not to overcook them as they can become mushy. Rinse them with cold water after cooking to prevent sticking.
  • Chinese five-spice powder — This aromatic spice blend typically includes star anise, cloves, Chinese cinnamon, Sichuan peppercorns, and fennel seeds. Use it sparingly as it has a strong flavor.

Tips & Tricks

  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of chili oil or sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top before serving.
  • Feel free to add additional vegetables such as mushrooms, snow peas, or bok choy to enhance the nutritional value and add more texture to the dish.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the sauce during the simmering process.
